How it works
Bluetooth uses UHF radio waves from 2.402 GHz to 2.48 GHz. Via this globally unlicensed frequency band, two devices can be coupled to exchange data wirelessly without line of sight.
Traditionally Bluetooth was designed for short range communication between two devices. Today’s Bluetooth Low Energy is primarily designed for low power consumption, since most of the time at least one of the two coupled devices relies on battery power, and can achieve ranges of up to 1 km or more. In the near future Bluetooth devices will also be able to broadcast a data stream to an unlimited number of devices using Auracast ™.
To make new developments easier we also offer Evaluation Boards and Evaluation Kits for all of our modules, as well as support for antenna design.
